As part of the campaign “Conectando con Alegría” (Connecting with Joy), on May 26th, Fe y Alegría carried out a new delivery of 1,049 tablets to different Fe y Alegría educational institutions in Lima, Cusco, and Arequipa, including a symbolic act of delivery to 5th grade students from I.E. Fe y Alegría (in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima).
In this symbolic act, made with all sanitary protocols in place, Fe y Alegría was represented by general director, P. Ernesto Cavassa, S.J., and I.E. Fe y Alegría 5 was represented by director David Alegre, and promoter P. Carles Such.A small group of teachers and a delegation of six 5th grade students participated, they delivered the tablets to parents.
The “Conectando con Alegría” (Connecting with Joy) campaign from Fe y Alegría Perú and Grupo RPP had the goal of obtaining 5,555 tablets so that girls, boys, and adolescents could improve their learning and strengthen their digital skills. The campaign managed to surpass the goal on March 31st, providing 5,621 tablets.
“We have prioritized 5th grade students because it is a transitional stage that allows them to move to the next stage of their education”, said Father Cavassa. Director Alegre thanked the people that have joined this campaign “for making it possible for our students to continue their comprehensive quality education. Father Such also thanked the Fe y Alegría’s National Office and made the following statement to the students: “Technology is not everything. Now it’s your turn to go forth and improve our country.”
Up until now, thanks to the support of various companies, people, and institutions, the campaign “Conectando con Alegría” (Connecting with Joy) has allowed us to receive 5,621 tablets that are being distributed to II.EE. of Fe y Alegría located in various regions of the country. The tablets contain programs, applications, and selected educational resources, following pedagogical criteria according to the educational level of the student.
Father Cavassa made a call to join this campaign. “The campaign is still open. We have to keep in mind that 5th to 6th grade students and 5th graders of Fe y Alegría schools, we will need a total of 19,703 tablets. It is important to defend the right to connectivity for all, in order for everyone to have equipment that allows them to continue their education.
